Getty Images Upgrades AI Image Generator with Advanced AI Model for Fast and High-Quality Image Creation

Getty Images has introduced an upgraded AI image generator on its main platform and iStock, signaling a significant advancement in speed, quality, and creative potential.

Powered by NVIDIA Edify within the Picasso framework, the enhanced model promises rapid image generation, improved 4K upscaling, and new AI editing features. This places Getty Images at the forefront of AI-driven visual content creation with its two tools, Generative AI by Getty Images and Generative AI by iStock.

The Improved AI Image Generator by Getty Images, Built on NVIDIA Edify

The latest iteration of Getty Images' AI image generator—also integrated into the iStock AI image generator—leverages the foundation model NVIDIA Edify and boasts the capability to produce four images in just six seconds, doubling its predecessor's performance. This positions Getty’s generators among the fastest in the industry.

Designed to cater to diverse creative needs, the upgraded model supports detailed user prompts of up to 250 words, facilitating the creation of highly detailed, commercially safe images aligned with creative visions. The tools now also include greater creative control through adjustable settings for depth of field or camera angle, among other aspects.

In addition to speed and quality enhancements, Getty Images has introduced new AI editing features, initially available on iStock with plans for integration into Getty Images. These features enable users to customize AI-generated or existing images effortlessly, including inpainting –which lets users highlight and remove or modify elements within a picture–, outpainting –a feature that expands an image’s original canvas with content-aware filling–, and background removal.

These advancements align with Getty Images' broader initiatives to foster creativity, such as the AI Prompt Challenge, developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, which showcases their dedication to innovating visual storytelling.
