The pioneer in legally clean datasets for AI software training, vAIsual, has today announced a new partnership with Asian stock imagery brand DragonImages, to include their authentic, Asian-focused content into licensable datasets to train AI generative models.
This partnership looks at ensuring more ethical and responsible AI image generators by providing an accurate and diverse visual representation of society, with authorization and proper compensation from the copyright owners.
The newly announced collaboration between vAIsual and DragonImages will allow curated image datasets to be licensed on The Dataset Shop –vAIsual’s online dataset marketplace.
These datasets are prepared for engineers to add to the training process for their AI generative models and have the particularity of being legally cleared for said use by the images’ copyright owners or its representatives (such as DragonImages).
The legal aspect of vAIsual’s dataset is important since some of the most popular AI image generative tools are already in hot legal waters due to the unauthorized, uncompensated nature of the images they used to train their software, making it clearer than ever that copyright and authorization are key if you want a tool that delivers safe-to-use content.
vAIsual has already partnered with The Middle Frame for a similar purpose, and it’s worth noting that this company has been ahead of many others in the AI imagery space, having identified the legal background needed for AI-generated photos to be commercially viable and designing solutions via The Dataset Shop considerably earlier than others.
Equally important, the addition of authentic and accurate visuals from ethnical and cultural minorities is what they think can solve the problematic bias that some AI image generators have displayed in their people images, which they think has to do with the dated and non-inclusive nature of the photos used to train them.
DragonImages is a brand under the Everypixel Group umbrella, and it was inaugurated in 2012 with headquarters in Vietnam.
It produces stock photos and videos that represent the Asian region, cultures, and ethnicities in an authentic style.
The Everypixel Group also manages Pressmaster, a European-focused stock imagery brand, and multiple IT products for photographers, marketers, and developers.
